Snowman Trek

Duration – 25 Days / 24 Nights.
Maximum Elevation – 5320m
Nature of the Trek – Very Difficult
Best Season – September – October

The snowman trek is considered to be one of the most difficult treks in the world. It is a 25 days trek through a high alpine country. The combination of distance, altitude, remoteness and the weather makes this trek a rough journey. The snowman trek is frequently closed because of the snow, and it is impossible during winter. The best season for this trek is considered to be in September and October.

Day 1: Drukgyel Dzong (2580m) to Shana Zampa (2890m).
            Distance: 17km, Time: 4-6 hours.

Day 2: Shana Zampa (2890m) to Thangthangka (3575).
           Distance: 22km, Time: 7-8 hours.

Day 3: Thangthangka (3575m) to Jangothang (4044m).
           Distance: 19km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 4: Acclimatization day and exploration of Jangothang (4044m).

Day 5: Jangothang (4044m) to Lingzhi (4010).
           Distance: 18km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 6: Lingzhi (4010) to Chebisa (3990m).
           Distance: 10km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 7: Chebisa (3990) to Shomuthang (4220m).
           Distance: 17km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 8: Shomuthang (4220m) to Robluthang (4160m).
            Distance: 18km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 9: Robluthang (4160m) to Limithang (4160m).
            Distance: 19km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 10: Limithang (4160) to Laya (3800).
              Distance: 10km, Time: 4-5hours.

Day 11: A rest and acclimatization day in Laya (3800m).

Day 12: Laya (3800m) to Roduphu (4215m).
               Distance: 19km, Time: 6-7hours.
Day 13: Roduphu (4215m) to Nerethang (4940).
              Distance: 17km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 14: Nerethang (4940) to Tarina (3938m).
              Distance: 18km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 15: Tarina (3938m) to Wochu (4163m).
              Distance: 17km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 16: Wochu (4163m) to Lhedi (3900m).
              Distance: 17km, Time: 6-7hours.

Day 17: Lhedi (3900m) to Thanza (4100m).
              Distance: 17km, Time: 7-8hours.

Day 18: A rest day in Thanza (4100m).

Day 19: Thanza (4100m) to Danji (4540m).
             Distance: 8km, Time: 3-4hours.

Day 20: Danji (4540m) to Tshochena (4960m).
            Distance: 12km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 21: Tshochena (4960m) to Jichu Dramo (5060m).
            Distance: 14km, Time: 4-5hours.

Day 22: Jichu Dramo (5060m) to Chukarpo (4600m).
            Distance: 18km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 23: Chukarpo (4600m) to Thampe Tsho (4355m).
           Distance: 18km, Time: 5-6hours.

Day 24: Thampe Tsho (4355m) to Maurothang (3698m).
            Distance: 14km, Time: 5hours.

Day 25: Mourothang (3698m) to Sephu (2600m).
